Last Thursday’s contest themed The 50’s was another SMASH success! Our winner was Matt Elsesser, who tore it up. The weekend was equally good, with Sunday’s Open Mic bringing in more new faces. Thanks to Sally for making it and sitting in. Roger, Deb, Norm, and the rest of our regular guests did a fine job as well.

I’d like to personally thank all that came out for my (David) birthday Friday. You got me good! Thank goodness it only comes once a year.

THIS WEEK AT THE CABIN!

Tuesday – Brattleboro Pool League

The Colonel’s “Good & Hammered” team plays against the Sportsmen/Sportsters at the Cabin.

Thursday – KARAOKE and Contest

This week, the contest theme is DUETS.

This theme will be special in that contestants will also be judged on keeping to their own parts and/or harmony. Two people singing the same thing is not really a duet. Harmony is not a requirement, but if the song warrants it, then it should be at least attempted.

Contestants will be singing songs from our wide collection of  Karaoke tracks. You can search the TrackListingByArtist to get a complete track listing.

Before and after the contest, normal karaoke protocols are in effect.

Friday – LADIES’ NIGHT

NO COVER FOR THE LADIES

The Guest Whoz start at 9:30 and play all you favorite dance and rock songs.

Saturday – IN CONCERT

The Beatles Theme on our last KARAOKE Contest was excellent. We had 10 contestants all singing some of the best Beatle tunes out there. The winner was Sally (Dammit) Montgomery, singing Strawberry Fields Forever.

Let’s hope the 50’s theme does as well.

We had a great contest last Thursday, with 10 contestants. The  competition was taken by MARSHA, our school teacher friend, with the great voice. She sang Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero”. Most requested song… “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”, with 4 of the 10 contestants wanting to sing it.

Before we go any further, I have to get this off my chest…

Last week, we only had 4 or 5 contestants enter the Karaoke Contest, so it was CANCELLED for that night.

It’s NOT my fault.. it’s not the boss’s fault… it’s not anyone’s fault, but the ones who COULD have entered and won, but instead, just sat around and piddled away the night.  Karaoke is the epitome of what is meant by “ENTERTAIN YOURSELF”, and needless to say, it was NOT a very entertaining bunch…    kinda like watching grass grow…   or paint drying.

No matter where you go, you only have as much fun as you let yourself have.

Just so there is no further confusion or issues, to have the contest, there MUST be NO LESS than 8 contestants. Contestants MUST fill in entry slips BEFORE 11:o0 PM. No waiting around slacking and seeing if someone else is going to enter.

No Contestants, No Contest, and NO PRIZE AWARDED..

If you don’t enter, you CAN’T WIN!         Ok.. enough soapboxing….
